First Half
Wellington Improv Troupe presents.. WellingSin City
Following in the tradition of Bogart, Rooney, Bacall, explore the mean streets and dark underbelly of WellingSIN CITY.
A city where the rain may fall like tears from a clown, but the last laugh is always a suggestion away.
An improvised noir where YOU call the shots. We all have our demons, but how we exorcise them is up to you. From the people that brought you "To Be Continued", "Love Possibly", and "The Young and the Witless".

Second Half
The Improvisors present.. Garry Trotter and the Philosopher's Whateveryoulike
Think you’re a true Harry Potter fan – well think again! What the books don’t tell you but The Improvisors will is that New Zealand has its very own school for witchcraft and wizardry. But like everything else in this country it doesn’t get the good press it deserves. That’s about to change. With the help of the audience, divided each night into New Zealand’s own four Houses of Wizardry, Garry Trotter and his chums from Sheepforts School of Wizardry and Agriculture will solve magical mysteries , meet magical beasts and bring the cows in for evening milking. In this show you provide the magic, you set the plot twists and you can even put a name to He Who Must Not Be Named – the Improvisors will weave a spell over the rest. You’d be a Muggle to miss out!

First Half
Impro Melbourne presents...
Mr. Fish And His Spooky Library Of The Improv Macabre
What scares you? Truly scares you. Mr Fish wants to know...
He's been collecting stories for a long time and hes got a couple he thinks you'd like.
Drawn from a library that includes Poe, Lovecraft, The Brothers Grimm, and that little voice that tells you to push little old ladies down stairs Mr Fish brings your worst fears and scariest thoughts to life right before your horrified eyes.
Teaming Impro Melbourne's top improvisers Patti Stiles and Rama Nicholas, with 2006 World Cup TheatreSports champion Derek Flores, Mr Fish is an exploration of the darker side of improvisation.
Laughter is easy, fear is riskier. |
Second Half
present...
Bite Me: FangProv
After a charming romp at the NZIF in 2008 with Austen Found: The Undiscovered Musicals of Jane Austen, ConArtists is swooping back into Wellington and looking to give you a bloody good time.
Under the cover of darkness, without a whiff of garlic in sight they’ll be serving up Bite Me: Fangprov to titillate your tastebuds and get your pulse racing.
Drawing on a rich vein of myths, legends and Twilight rip-offs, these pallid performers will sing, dance and mug their undead Vampire hearts out for your living pleasure.
We will suck BUT it’ll be O Positive for Awesome.

The Court Jesters are going OFF THE MAP as they present a tale of scandal, secrets and peril in a small South Island town. Second Half
Impro Melbourne presents a cast of NZIF players in...
The Wishing Tree
Created and directed by Rama Nicholas
The Wishing Tree is an improvised format where the audience’s favourite wish could come true. Members of the audience are invited to anonymously write a wish on a piece of paper and hang it on ‘The Wishing Tree’
The cast of improvisers are asked to choose a wish at random from the tree.
Stories unfold and characters are brought to life as the hopes and desires of the wishes are honored, no matter how big or small.
The format is inspired by a Japanese myth:
Once a year (on the night of the show) two stars align. They represent a prince and princess who are in love and are married, but have been separated (though out the year by the milky way).
Once a year they get their wish to be together. It’s a very auspicious day for wishes to come true because the gods are happy the lovers are together.
The gods often wander through the sacred forests and if they find your wish hanging on the tree – it might come true.
What makes this show even more awesome is...
-
this performance is a one-off collaboration between performers from all participating troupes
-
many of the cast will be perfoming in Wishing Tree for the very first time after mere hours workshopping with Rama and the other players
....it's truly a show not to be missed! |
